About Richmond

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area's East Bay region, Richmond borders Albany and El Cerrito, and is a short distance away from San Francisco itself. Richmond is one of the two cities, alongside San Rafael, that sits on the shores of both the San Francisco Bay and the San Pablo Bay.

 

Point Richmond, a neighborhood in Richmond, it well known for it's charm and small town appearance. The Point - as it is known by locals - offers mom and pop stores, coffee shops, historic benches, and streetlights. The city has its own cultural offerings, including The Masquers Playhouse, a performing arts center that offers shows and productions year round. Here you can also find The Ferry Point Tunnel - one of the oldest tunnels in California. Built in 1899, the structure leads to the Golden State Railroad Museum, the USS Red Oak Victory, and many beaches and parks.

 

Richmond is home to the Richmond Art Center, a contemporary visual arts center, offering a gallery to explore and art classes in the heart of the city. The Richmond-San Rafael bridge extends across the San Pablo Bay, creating an easy connection into the Marin area. Here you can find the Wildcat Canyon Regional Park, which features trails, forests, horseback riding, picnic areas, and more.
